Sweet Girl

***Warning! Mommy brag post***

I don’t know how I got so lucky. I think I may have about the sweetest little girl ever. Her brother and daddy may beg to differ, because she’s officially a mommy’s girl now! I love it.

Now that big bro is at school. Little sweetness and I have had some much needed mommy and me time. The first day he was away, we explored the playroom. Wow! It’s a whole new world without big bro. I didn’t realize how well she could talk. Seems like she didn’t stop talking the entire day! Ha. Everything is “Wook Mommy!” Normally this would really bug me, but it’s so cute in her high pitched Texas accent.

She had her 2 year check up yesterday and the doctor commented that they have never seen such a well behaved two year old! Several nurses had to come in our room to see this sweet girl. I was beaming!!! And of course, she said hi to each one with her tiny voice. If you don’t know, I have one of those “crazy boys”. So this calm, sweet thing is VERY foreign to me!  She has always been so tiny, but all the sudden shot up in height to the 90th percentile. Wow! Maybe she can finally wear jeans. I LOVE baby jeans.

Last night I found out my friends Dan and Stephanie had to take their one year old son to the hospital. He has seizures and it got bad enough where they had to be admitted over night. I feel better now that they are getting good care. I hope everything turns out okay. This morning after the boys left, I told my girl about her little friend and said we should pray for him. Oh my gosh… she said. “Yes!” and bowed her little head! So we said a prayer for baby Jackson. She started by saying “Dear God.” Then repeated “Amen.” after I was done. What a sweet, sweet thing!!

She just walked in my office with her pink sparkly high heals and matching purse!!! I’d better go and play now. I just love little girls!

UPDATE: She is counting paper on my office floor and counted to 12! I’m NOT kidding. Who knew she could count at all? Crazy.

Mine!

We had some new friends over for a play date yesterday. I was talking with another mom during VBS and our little girls became fast friends by following each other around the church lobby, then switching shoes. A bond that only a 2 year old with a passion for shoes can understand. It was really sweet, they even held hands. I couldn’t believe it, I had to have this sweet girl over to play.
Remember, we rarely have girls over, since most of our friends are boys. So it was a whole different can of worms when our new friend showed up. Right off the bat, LOTS of drama!! There were times of sweetness, but mostly a lot of shouting “MINE!!!!” then crying, stomping and flopping on the floor. This was happening on both girl’s part. It was hilarious. What happened to that cute girl play time in the church lobby? ha. I don’t think she knew what do with a little person who was interested in her girl toys (which is very slim in a house ruled by Batman, swords and light sabers). Also, because they both have big brothers, I think shouting MINE just becomes habit. Those pesky big brothers!!
It ended up being a fun morning and I was happy to have made a new friend myself. I just wasn’t used to all the fuss that goes on in the little girl world. I guess I got my first taste of much more drama to come! It will all be worth it someday when I get to go through this with her and her daughter. I will remind her about that dramatic, terrible two’s screech “MINE!”, assure her that it’s normal, then I’ll chuckle and go home to my nice and quiet, screech free home.
